Peter Dominic 1941 - 2009
I received sad news today that Architect Peter Dominic past away January 1st. Mr. Dominic worked for the company 4240 Architecture out of Denver, CO and had done several projects with the Disney team over the years. Including the Grand Californian Hotel, the Animal Kingdom Hotel and the Fort Wilderness Hotel. Although I only had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Dominic a few times through work, his reputation throughout our offices was one of being "a superb architect and wonderful person" as said by architect Robert A. M. Stern on the
4240 website;
"Noted architect Robert A.M. Stern, FAIA, dean of the Yale University School of Architecture, was a friend, sometimes a design-team member, sometimes a competitor. He stated: "Peter Dominick was a superb architect and a wonderful person. His deep understanding of and love for the landscape and building traditions of the Rocky Mountain region can be seen in his distinctive architecture. He was a regionalist in the best sense of the term. For those lucky enough to have known Peter, the sense of loss is immeasurable; he was full of vitality, generous with his time, optimistic, and caring-a great human being. I will miss him very much. He will not ever be replaced among the worthies who have brightened our profession; and not ever forgotten by those whose lives he touched with his special grace. ~ Robert A. M. Stern"
I know there are several of my colleagues who were deeply touched by the presence of this man in their lives. Throughout the halls here at Imagineering, I've heard words such as; captivating, brilliant, kind, articulate, and inspiring to describe him. My deepest sympathies to his family and co-workers. Our profession has suffered a great loss.
