Did they say Deco AGAIN?!

The Kress

Foxtail

I would have titled this email 'Trend Alert', but I think it is far past trendy now. Let's review; The Edison (industrial deco) , Hush (actual speak easy from the late 20's deco) , Café Was (bohemian chic french depression era), Foxtail (trendy deco/nouveau), The Kress (oriental deco), … It's as if Los Angeles has taken a cue from the economic decline and gone backwards in time to reunite the city with the Great Depression. This week we add Bar Delux (Viennese deco) to the still growing list. Don't get me wrong, I'm in love with many of these places, but is anyone else going to gag if they hear the words "deco inspired" again? That being said, I fully intend to go by sometime soon in the next week or two so that I can rate the latest Deco décor at Delux.... and hopefully sample a superb St. Germain (My most recent obsession) cocktail. Oh, by the way, if Absinthe is more your style, be sure to visit the Green Fairy at Edison - no really she is actually there pushing around a trolley of light bulbs filled with green goodness ready to delight your senses! Cafe Was also hosts an Absinthe bar upstairs - how apropos.

A Question of LOVE

"Spread Happiness!"

This is the best explanation of the things that have been going through my head since the fight against Prop 8 started. Mr. Olberman gives the most eloquent and heart felt comments on this issue that I have come across.
Maybe it's because I'm an emotional person, maybe its because somewhere inside me I still want to believe in my childhood dream of white picket fences and happily ever after... but with the divorce statistics stacked against us, and a generation that thinks more about "me" instead of "we", in a time of war, fear, environmental and economic decline .... All we have left in this world, and above all the one thing I will always stand for is Love. This is something we all have in common, that each and every single human being seeks. I cannot fathom the idea of not allowing it in any way, shape or form towards any person.

"The world is barren enough."

I hope you can take a minute to listen to Keith Olberman's statement if you haven't heard it already.

Thanks for your time, If any of this touches your heart, please please find a petition to sign, or peaceful march to participate in. If you find your heart in a different place then this note promotes, then I thank you for taking the time to read and listen to an issue that I find incredibly important.
All my love,
Katrina
